The problem: a failed epoxy pool-deck coating
The pool deck had previously been coated with epoxy, but that system failed within approximately one year. Before installing the new rubber surface, Rubber Decker removed the failed epoxy so the replacement system would not be installed over a compromised coating.
Surface preparation before installation
Removing the failed material was an essential part of the project. The exposed base could then be evaluated and prepared before the rubber-surfacing installation began. This project illustrates why the condition and compatibility of an existing coating matter when resurfacing an indoor pool deck.
A continuous finish around a curved indoor pool
The completed surface follows the pool’s curved perimeter, steps, ladders, drains and surrounding access areas. The neutral colour complements the existing brick, tile and pool finishes without overpowering the room.
