The challenge with asphalt play areas
Many daycare play areas begin as plain asphalt. Asphalt is hard, dark and can become hot in direct sunlight. It also offers limited visual interest for a space intended for children. When falls occur during active play, a hard surface provides little cushioning.
A more colourful and forgiving play surface
Rubber surfacing can add cushioning and transform an ordinary paved area with colour, patterns and defined activity zones. At the Aurora Campus, bold blue and black areas give the outdoor space a clear, energetic appearance while creating a continuous surface for daily play.
Making outdoor play areas more engaging
Depending on the project, Rubber Decker can use contrasting colours, shapes, pathways and play-focused designs to make daycare and playground spaces more engaging. Surface design is planned around the site’s use, existing base, drainage and required performance.
